BEAUTiFUL was a dance theatre work conceived and directed by Sally Marie, Artistic Director of Sweetshop Revolution and created with dancers; Flora Grant, Natacha Kierbel, Sandra Klimek, Pauline Rainari, and Tania Diembelolo. Through movement and text, we are exploring love and sexuality from the female point of view; what is fantasised about, desired and permissible within the complex web of social structures, expectations and cultural history. These extraordinary female dancers lead us through their own experiences of sexuality and love, contrasting an exploration of the history of women’s sexuality with a time of gender fluidity and polyamory, as we move away from the idea of a fixed identity or stereotype. Taking the autobiography of each woman and embedding it into the global – ‘BEAUTiFUL’ will celebrate the solidarity of women, by taking femininity to a more deeply t truthful place – past the gloss of media spin and pressure to conform.Essentially, ‘BEAUTiFUL’ is a doorway into a dialogue about how women and men are experiencing relationships, sexuality and the body right now. At the heart of it lies a question: how do we love and how has it changed?
