Violet Smile

The solo is a dark comedy based on an eastern European waitress from Transylvania and her experiences working as a waitress. She is both vulnerable and yet dangerous. We never quite know what is going to happen next. The work integrates ‘rope’ and ‘sticks’ into a mix of contemporary movement, investigating a fluid physicality. We follow her taking orders, enquiring of you blood group and whether you want chips. And then follow her through various vampire states from innocence through to danger, the desire of the attack, the waiting and the wanting to be taken. And onwards into the night, the darkness, the fear of the light, the everlasting life and how many tips she has made.
